Bala's Holiday Chalet

Cameron Highlands

Bala's Holiday Chalet (also known as Planter's Country Hotel) is a boutique hotel at Tanah Rata, nestled on a secluded hill slope that overlooks beautiful countryside surroundings. Built in 1934, the hotel was once a branch of the famous Tanglin boarding school in Singapore that catered for expatriate children during the colonial era. Today, its refurbishment still retains the old world setting and Tudor architecture.

Many of the rooms are furnished in different styles and layouts, giving each a unique charm, but all come with pretty countryside views. The restaurant, or more specifically, the garden, is a popular spot for afternoon tea but also serves Western and local food. The hotel can be reached from a left junction along the main road, about 1km after Tanah Rata town, or 2km before Brinchang.
