Gunung Irau is the highest mountain of Cameron Highlands at 2,110 meters above sea-level, a popular climbing spot for avid hikers and an immediate neighbour to Gunung Brinchang, the second highest summit. A popular hiking ground for visitors, the trail to conquer its summit begins where the Mossy Forest boardwalk ends, taking between two and three hours to complete a 2.35km climb.
Along the way, admire a fascinating kaleidoscope of dainty orchids, moss gardens, peculiar shrubs and pitcher plants. The trail is in fact, a continuation of the mossy forest landscape but with more pristine sights due to its inaccessibility to casual tourists. From the peak, a trail continues to other mountains on the Yellow Pass, exiting out at Simpang Pulai highway.
