The Giant Rafflesia is a parisitic flower that grows in limited regions across Peninsular Malaysia and Borneo. The largest species of flower in the world, Rafflesia grows in the rainforest regions of Lojing at the outskirts of Cameron Highlands towards Gua Musang. With a diameter reaching a meter or more, the flower is a magnificent sight to behold with its striking dark red colouration and notable putrid scent.
Many operators and hotels in Tanah Rata and Brinchang organise tour packages to see this unique flower, but only when available as the flower grows seasonally. A typical tour begins with an hour's drive to the forest using 4WD vehicles that traverse muddy terrain, followed by a two-hour hike through jungle until finally, the Rafflesia site is reached.
